BTR accord review keeps autonomy and village issues on the table
Signatories of the BTR accord have continued to press for faster movement on autonomy, village inclusion and welfare commitments.
Implementation of the BTR accord remains a central political issue for Bodoland, with signatory groups continuing to seek time-bound action on pending clauses.
Recent review discussions have kept attention on questions such as greater autonomy under the Sixth Schedule, inclusion of villages, welfare for affected families, school provincialisation and livelihood opportunities for former cadres and young people.
For residents, the accord is not only a political document. Its progress is tied to local governance, land confidence, education, recruitment and the promise of lasting peace after years of uncertainty.
